Strategic Account Director

This consultative sales position will work with our channel sales and marketing customers representing the entire portfolio of The Channel Company, including our leading media brands, events portfolio, research and consulting and our marketing services.  This individual will be responsible for serving as the primary liaison with all of our customers in his or her given geographic region.  A successful candidate will not only understand the company’s products and services, but also have a comprehensive understanding of how they fit into the fabric of the IT reseller channel in which our customers and their partners operation.  The company’s sales approach, which is critical to its overall success, is for this position to be able to build and maintain relationships with customers over a long period of time, then convert an understanding of the issues facing our customers’ business to make actionable recommendations at a high strategic level regarding which products and services might benefit the client.  The successful candidate should not only be able to employ sales techniques to close business, but also equally importantly must be able to proactively identify business issues and think strategically about how to solve them.  The successful candidate is able to work tirelessly and within tight deadlines when necessary.    

Please note: This position will be a remote position but the candidate MUST be located in the Bay Area.  

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Minimum 4-year degree and at least 5-10 years sales experience to IT hardware manufacturers or in the IT reseller channel.
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint for sales presentations.
  • Must have solid grasp of business principles and familiarity with sales and marketing in the IT channel specifically.
  • A true passion for sales; ability to present ideas clearly and convincingly.
  • Strong math skills; ability to price proposals, calculate rates, and create P&Ls for proposed projects.
  • Accountable for reaching revenue growth targets and strict annual sales quotas.
  • Willing and able to travel a significant portion of the time – to client sites, company events, and company business meetings.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, readily adapting to continually changing priorities and aggressive project timeframes; ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently; great team-player mentality – consistently display world-class professionalism.
  • Strong time management; oral & written communication skills with an ability to articulate rational to clients, other team members, and stakeholders; and strong interpersonal skills.
